The Eco Design Challenge Awards 2010

The Eco Design Challenge Awards 2010

Friday 9th July saw the Leap team deliver a very successful Dott Cornwall Eco Design Challenge Awards hosted at Tremough Campus by Cornish education consultant Will Coleman.

St Ives School’s plan to retrofit their 1970’s art block with large roof windows and photovoltaic panels was chosen as overall winner by a panel of five judges; Andrea Siodmok, Programme Director of Dott Cornwall; Benedict Arora from NESTA; TV personality Dick Strawbridge; Lesley Morris of the Design Council and Matt Barton from Cornwall Council, (pictured above with the winning eco team: Calum Parson, Bridget Allen, Billy Goulden, Alastair Manley and Daniel Hopson). The Eco judges take aim at one of the finalist's presentations! ...Don't worry, they asked them to!

St Ives beat off stiff competition from the five other finalists: Wadebridge School, Sir James Smith’s Community School, Bodmin College, Penrice Community College and Budehaven Community School to win £6,700 to give their plans a kick start towards reality.

The Eco team at Leap Media would like to congratulate all the finalists and thank all the participants, their teachers and the schools for their ongoing support.
